There are plenty of reasons to volunteer your time or money. Check out this post about the health benefits of giving back. But, volunteering can be difficult if you have little extra time and money. Here are a few ways to be charitable without disrupting your life.
1. Be charitable online
With free two-day Prime shipping and endless supply of everything I need, Amazon is my go-to for online shopping. Amazon Smile is a simple and automated way to support your charity of choice. When you purchase anything through Smile, Amazon will donate .5% of the purchase total to your charity.
Whatever you are passionate about, you can support the cause through this philanthropic search engine tool. GoodSearch donates 50% of their advertising revenue to any of the 54,000 registered organizations. And, with the recently added GoodShop, you can donate a percentage of the cost of your purchases. Available shopping on Amazon, Etsy, Best Buy, and many more- and has coupon codes available.
The Hunger Site
This site was created by GreaterGood to make giving back easy. The concept behind the Hunger Site is simple. Click a button for one of the 6 causes on and the site’s sponsor will make a charitable donation. And, if you purchase an item from the online store they will donate even more.
2. Be a sponsor!
Don’t have the extra time or money to give back? Try convincing your company to sponsor a local nonprofit’s upcoming event or project . Corporate sponsorships are mutually beneficial. The corporation provides the nonprofit with financial support and, in return, the nonprofit provides corporations with positive PR. In fact, 33 % of surveyed consumers are choosing to buy from brands they believe are doing social or environmental good.
3. Volunteer on Saturday!
Looking for a way to help your community? But find it difficult to squeeze in during the work week? No problem! There are a lot of opportunities to volunteer on the weekend. Animal shelters, food pantries, local libraries, and YMCAs are all open and in need of volunteers of weekend warriors. We have revitalization project on the weekend that require lots of volunteers at Rebuilding Together of the Triangle. Lend a hand on our next weekend project!
