Jennie and her two adult daughters live together in Fuquay-Varina. Jennie has struggled for years with mental illness, and was diagnosed with bipolar disorder several years ago. Her daughters stayed home to take care of her, but faced significant health struggles of their own.
With their physical ailments consuming most of their resources and energy, maintaining the family home fell on the list of priorities. RTT assembled financial support, subcontractors and volunteers to replace the HVAC and roof, clean the yard, service the septic system, and make lots of other miscellaneous repairs to ensure the family can live safely together in their home.
In the words of Jennie and her daughters, “Poverty consumes every last bit of forward momentum. You have no idea what it means to have a home that functions and finally feel fully human again. We wanted to thank you for all the help you have provided for us.”
